<image:caption>At HTHR, we pay close attention to the finer details of our product. From farm-to-closet, we oversee the full production; making sure each piece is made with quality workmanship, natural materials, and making sure our workers are well taken care of. Slow-fashion costs a little more upfront, but given its quality, versatility, and foundational style, our clothes are more practical and economical than something discarded after a season or two.</image:caption>

<image:title>ABOUT - HELLO</image:title>
<image:caption>My name is Heather Gerber, I’m the designer and owner of HTHR. I graduated from Purdue University in 2017, where I received a bachelor's in Apparel Design and Retail Management, with a minor in Art Studio Design, and gained a certificate of Entrepreneurship. After graduating I took some time off, traveling to three different countries, and ten other states. I then moved to New York City and began my first job working as an Assistant Designer at Macy’s. A few years later I moved back to Indiana, worked remotely for Macy’s, and then eventually transitioned into building my own clothing line in 2021. Being surrounded by a world filled with mass production and low-quality products; I soon grew to have a heart for the underpaid workers who spend long hours making products that would soon end up at the landfill after a single season. Inspired, I wanted to create a clothing brand with ethical values, high-quality products, and implementing slow-fashion practices, and sustainability throughout my design process. I’ll be honest, it took me so much longer than expected, but I am so excited to share this journey with you and keep growing along the way! Please connect and reach out any time! And to all my dear friends and family who have cheered me on, hyped me up, and invested in me ~ THANK YOU ~ I couldn’t have made it this far without you ❤</image:caption>

<image:title>ABOUT - The Design Process</image:title>
<image:caption>BRAINSTORM: I take several days or even weeks to gather research, pin ideas, find inspirational photos, write down notes, thoughts, or ideas I have. I'll pull it all together into a mood board to showcase the details and quality I want to incorporate into my design. Once I establish the elements and silhouette, I’ll sketch some designs. CONCEPT: I create a technical packet that includes: reference photos, a detailed sketch, technical notes, fabric quality, trims, and measurements. Manufacturers will then review them and send out a quote for development. MATERIALS: I start reaching out to trim suppliers and yarn factories to source the raw fabric materials and trims to produce the first product. MANUFACTURE DEVELOPMENT: A pattern is created by the factory’s patternmakers, based on the technical drawing, construction, and measurements listed within the technical packet sent. PROTOTYPE: The sample will be made then sent to me for product approval. Comments will be made for revisions, and a fitting will be held to ensure the proper fit and comfort. An updated technical packet will be sent to the manufacturer to develop the 2nd sample. samples and revisions will go back and forth from the manufacturer to me until the fit and style are fully approved. FIT SAMPLES: A size small, medium, and large are sent to be reviewed in a fitting, and measurements are either approved or slightly modified to get the perfect fit. PRODUCTION: A mass-production order is finalized after fit samples are approved and meet the requirements. Quality control is checked. Pressing, adding labels, and folding will be performed for final distribution. SHIPPING: Most small bulk orders are shipped internationally by air, but it adds an extremely high shipping cost + taxes + duties fees compared to freight cost.</image:caption>

<image:title>IMPACT - Ethical Practices</image:title>
<image:caption>Our factories It takes time and resources to find quality factories, with an ethical production system, certifications, and values the livelihood of their workers. It takes months to build a personal relationship with the owners to communicate our standards & expectations. We emphasize the importance of using organic material, quality of craftsmanship, and minimizing waste during garment production. We work with several manufacturers who are certified in GOTS, WRAP, Fair Trade, and use Sustainable textiles, along with environmentally friendly dyes. We encourage factories to practice zero-waste by recycling leftover material and to utilize the capability of reducing energy and water usage. Lima, Peru Our partners in Peru work exclusively with different groups of Peruvian weavers and artisans focused on fair and sustainable trade in their local community. They work with sustainable materials such as alpaca, & baby alpaca, Tangui cotton, organic cotton, and Pima cotton. Our Peru factory is certified in OEKO-TEX, GOTS, ISO 9001, and members of the WFTO and NEST. As a fast-growing Peruvian exporter they’re committed to clean manufacturing, eco-friendly processes, using sustainable materials, and also helping Peruvian artisans through fair trade practices. Our Peru factory values the principles of fairness before profits. This means that we are committed to paying women artisans fairly and equitably for their work which allows them to care for their families and wellbeing.</image:caption>

<image:title>IMPACT - SUSTAINABILITY</image:title>
<image:caption>Fabrics We love using sustainable and natural materials! We source our alpaca wool from Peru, where the alpacas freely graze on natural grass high in the Andes Mountains. The cotton we use is certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, which means it's been tested for harmful substances and is harmless to human health. Most widely-produced cotton farmers use harmful chemicals for the growth of their cotton farms. Luckily, our cotton is organic and is certified GOTS. The Global Organic Textile Standard was developed to recognize the requirements for organic textiles. From the harvesting of the raw materials, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing to labeling, textiles certified to GOTS provide transparency for us and our consumers. The type of fabric or yarn material used will be listed on the product page of each listing.</image:caption>

<image:title>IMPACT - waste reduction</image:title>
<image:caption>OUR PACKAGING HTHR uses EcoEnclosed mailing products. The packaging is made from 100% RECYCLED material and can be re-recycled after use. The shipping package is reusable with its double-adhesive closer when orders are sent back. The protectant bag inside keeps your clothing safe and protected as it’s mailed out to you! pre-order model The goal of pre-orders is to minimize waste and create an equilibrium between supply and demand. Fewer garments end up in landfills Products are made to be season-less and worn throughout the year Slows the fashion cycle and helps customers value higher quality products it provides cash flow to the designer, so your purchase effectively goes toward the labor and materials needed to create your piece</image:caption>
